Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Confesses He Can't Avoid Underwhelming Record
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim endures the pressure during their 3-1 loss at opponents
Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim acknowledges he cannot hide from his disappointing record and says it is understandable that Old Trafford icons are criticizing him.
On Tuesday, the club's all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney stated on his podcast that "the heart has gone" from his former team.
The Portuguese manager has secured just 18 wins from his forty-nine matches in control, including nine out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has yet to record two successive victories.
Although senior Old Trafford sources are certain that the club owner is still behind the manager, an inability to beat recently promoted Sunderland on the weekend will trigger fresh discussion about his future heading into the upcoming fortnight pause in domestic football.
"This is expected," said the Portugal-born manager, when questioned about Rooney's comments. "One can't run away from the outcomes."
"Additionally you have the history from last season, [although] last season for me doesn't matter."
Supporter Reaction and Current Circumstances
Manchester United's fans remained behind Amorim following the previous campaign's disappointing performance, when they finished 15th in the table - their lowest showing since the 1973-74 relegation season - and were beaten in the European final, in the hope that this season would be significantly better.
The manager assured fans the position would get better because he had more time to prepare with his squad without the weekly commitment of continental competition.
That is not been how the initial six games have materialised as Manchester United have suffered 3 losses already and sit fourteenth in the table.
Coach's Response to Concerns
When questioned what assurances he could provide supporters that the situation will get better, Amorim stated: "This is not the moment to talk, it is the time to show."
"Personally review the fixtures in the current campaign and, for me, they are entirely varied, but I have little to add at the current time."
- Man Utd presently hold 14th place in the top flight
- Amorim has secured just 18 of his 49 games in control
- Wayne Rooney recently criticized the club's current direction
- The upcoming match against their opponents is crucial for Amorim's future
